Air Plasma Spray (APS)

PAS Technologies operates an air plasma spray (APS) system using an Argon/Hydrogen gas mixture combusted in either an F4, 3MB or 9MB guns manipulated by robot/turntable combination to provide 8 axes of relative movement between the component and gun. APS coatings are used typically to apply abradable, wear resistant or thermal barrier coatings (TBC), with each coating having it’s own unique property.
            Abradable coatings contain a blend of elements such as Ni, Co, Al, Graphite, Polyester enabling the user to provide clearance control in high speed, high temperature applications where near zero clearances between moving parts are required.
Hardface coatings contain a blend of elements such as Cr, W, Ni, Co to improve the surface hardness and adding wear resistant properties to a surface.
